Biak - Frans Kaisiepo Airport implemented Dangerous Goods Awareness Workshop 2016, Monday (04/18/2016). The workshop, which this year was held at four branches of the airport Angkasa Pura Airports, namely Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang, Adi Soemarmo in Solo, Frans Kaisiepo Airport in Biak, and Sam Ratulangi Airport in Manado. The workshop was given to personnel of Aviation Security (AVSEC), Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), Apron Management Control (AMC), and the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE). The workshop was held for two days, from July 18 to 19 April 2016.
"The workshop is to be followed as best as possible, so the motto “No Airport Left Behind” can be achieved. Not only in terms of infrastructure facilities alone, but its human resources can also be similar to other airports," said by General Manager Frans Kaisiepo Biak Airports, Minggus E.T Gandeguai.
The workshop materials delivered one by one by Barata Singgih Riwahono (Training Management Dept. Head), Rahmat Aan Kurniyanto (Firefighting Maintenance Team Leader), and Sulkifli (Training Management Officer). These workshop materials focused to enable the participants to identify the objects and elements that are included in the category of dangerous goods Acceptable, Forbidden, exempted, and excepted.
"The handling of dangerous goods must be in place. Do not let an error when identifying objects such dangerous. For example, we need to understand any treatment that should be given to deal with different types of fire based on its source. For ARFF team, do not let water and foam as the main extinguishers actually can cause more damage fatal when the process of extinguishing the fire, because not all objects can be extinguished with water and foam for granted. We must put the fire according to the source and type of fire.” Minggus said.
Hopefully, with the implementation of this workshop, participants can socialize knowledge about the dangerous goods to co-workers, business partners, airlines and airport stakeholders. This is because awareness of the dangerous goods not only lies in AVSEC personnel and airport ARFF only, but inherent to every person who does all its activities at the airport to create safety and aviation security.
